Showrod Sunday... The Mach IV

MSN Auto selected GAS's Mustang as one of the best cars from SEMA this year. This ride is 100% bad ass. The quote is from MSN. "Galpin Ford has been building and customizing unique one-off vehicles for years, and this is an early example of the company’s creative genius. As the name says, this dragster — built by Gary Weckesser — is powered by four V8 engines. Based on a 1969 Ford Mustang funny car, this dragster was quite popular on the show circuit from 1969 to 1975. But it wasn’t simply a show car; its four engines put out an estimated 3000 horsepower. The Mach IV could hit a quarter-mile in around seven seconds at a speed of 180 mph."
It's like TV tommy Ivo's dragster on 'roids.

Sunday Showrods...The Snake Pit

Barris built this car to break land speed records well over 300mph. As far as all accounts, this machine never saw the salt. It currently resides in jolly ol' England where it was going to be part of a failed Euro Disney exhibition. It was later sold to a private buyer in 2006 for $37,400. Not bad considering the buyer got 6 Cobra Jets, coupled to 2 C-6's, feeding to Pontiac rears. Maybe old Georgie couldn't afford Dana's at the time of the build. Supposedly this thing was allegedly cranking 2000 hp. Total build time was 4 years on a budget of $100,000.

I call top bunk. Yep, not one of the coolest rods built, unless you're a 7 year old boy!

Showrod Sunday...Talk Dirty To Me

I pretty much love all of the showrods Carl Casper's built, but I believe he took the easy way out on this one. It's a shame because not many showrods ran injected hemis. Remember kids, it's MoPar or no car!

Showrod Sunday...Buckets

They are so simple to build, but so many go horribly wrong. They can be done on the cheap and still look great, but require a good eye. The stance and paint on this one is dead on. Even the tall windshield doesn't look outta place on this bitch. I don't know who built this one,  but it's absolutey killer!

Showrod Sunday...Buckets

I'm a huge fan of '23's. Over the years I contemplated building one several times. They're really impractical,  so I've always convinced myself if I had one in the garage, I'd probably just take the bike instead.
Not many T's look right with a normally aspirated engine, but this one works. Perfect proportions and killer paint. Hmmm...

Showrod Sunday...Happy Easter

Rod Powell  built this for Robin Williams character Mork in "The Mork and Mindy Show". The show was cancelled before the car could be used in the series. It was later turned into the Pac-Man mobile.

Showrod Sunday...Big Daddy

Roth built the baddest rods hands down. Here's a seldom seen shot of The Mysterion back in '63.

Showrod Sunday...Keep On Vannin'

WTF is "Twinkie Patrol"?  I really don't want to know. Most of the connotations evolved recently, so we'll assume the owner's a fatass and likes chicks and shovelheads.
Dig the chop and the ribbon painting.

Showrod Sunday...Bug Out

The Type 1 or Beetle is a versatile creation. Many have been built as drag cars, autocrossers, off road vehicles, used for "kit cars" etc. This car also makes a fine looking street machine when chopped and dropped. There have been a few competitive VW's on the ISCA circuit and had done well. They're definitely an affordable way to get into the show circuit. Just don't build one of those goofy ass Volksrods!
