Showrod Sunday...Random Shots

The Zingers dragster and the bath mobile are both still out there. The last time I saw the bath mobile was at Conklin's place. It's in rough shape, but saveable!

Show Rod Sunday...Boot Hill Express

Built by Ray Farhner in 1968. Ray started this rod with a mid 1800's hearse. It's powered by a 392 hemi with Hilborn injection. Sometime in it's long ISCA career, a fake 6-71 blower was added over the injection stacks. It too, has also taken up residence in the basement of the Peterson Automtive Museum.

Show Rod Sunday...Stage Fright

It took Jack Keef 7 years to build this ISCA winning show rod. He started with an 1894 Concord stagecoach and added a few more horsepower. It's powered by a 289 backed up by a C4 trans. It is currently residing in the basement of the Peterson Automotive Museum.

Show Rod Sunday...Cousin Lester

Les Dunham is a local legend around here. Totally out of his mind, but a fabrication genius. Les is always building something insane. Search Dunham Coachworks on YouTube, Retrocycles did a cool interview with him.
I used to work down the street from Les, back when I was at Nostalgia's old shop on Division street. You would never know what was going on in Les's shop, pimp mobiles, bikes, movie cars, etc. He's done stuff for Barris, built tons of cars for celebrities, etc, but you'd never know it. He's just a talented cat without an ego.

Show Rod Sunday.. Voodoo Spider

Built in 2003, Elden Titus's Voodoo Spider is timeless. It's based on an '83 XJS Jaguar. Most of the body was fabbed using the tried and true method of sheet metal over steel rod. NO fiberglass! All this was done in Elden's two car garage.
Elden passed away in 2008, at the age of 60. He is survived by his brother Jerry. Google the Legendary Titus Brothers to check out some of their work.

Show Rod Sunday...Carl Casper

Casper's Ghost. I love modified "t-buckets", especially this one. A recurring theme in Casper's creations were multiple superchargers. This one is no exception!

Show Rod Sunday...Trendero

This '57 Ranchero was originally built by Dave Public and John Malik to promote their custom shop. In '82 it was found sitting behind a shop in Chicago under a cover. It was recently acquired by Dave Shuten, who simply cleaned and polished it, as is. These wild customs from the '50's are still out there!
