On The Cheap...

My buddy Rob is building a rigid Sporty as cheap as possible. You know the deal, house, wife, kid, etc. Anyway, he wanted to use his stock exhaust as the basis for a set of custom pipes. The main problem was that butt ugly crossover pipe. Problem averted. Nothing a little tig'n on my lunch hour can't fix. He just has to do a little hand sanding/file work and no one will ever know.

Tech Tuesday...Tunnel Bunny

Back in the day, they used to call the working girls down by the Lincoln and Holland Tunnel, tunnel bunnies.
Anyway, I had some time to kill at work and decided to make a tunnel roller for an upcoming gas tank build. I can take my tunnel, throw it in the brake for my 90°'s and everything will be nice and professional looking, not caveman style.
It breaks down and assembles easily. Slide it together and C-clamp it to the bench. I machined some slugs for the rollers, everything else was done with a grinder and a little tig'n. Makes a nice bend. It's pretty self explanatory, just look at the pictures.
I got this idea from Special '79's YouTube channel. Look him up, he's got some great videos posted.

Showrod Sunday...The Crucifier

Joe Cruces built this bad ass roadster named "The Crucifier". It's a hand formed steel body over a tube chassis. An ambitious project, considering it was built in '67. This rod netted Joe "Custom Rod of the Year" at the Oakland Roadster Show.

The First Day Of Spring...

Get out there and enjoy the weather. It's hard to believe we really didn't have winter here in Jersey, other than the freak ice storm in October that paralyzed the state!

Digger Monday...Dan Eberhardt's '78 FXS

Dan built a pretty fine scoot utilizing a pretty much stock drivetrain to keep the ridability factor up. A Ness hardhead was added to the Motor Company's frame and a Ness springer was used to keep her pointing in the right direction. B.A.C.C. supplied the fender and seat. I'm normally not a fan of the 16/19 combo, but this sled wears 'em well. All in all, a killer ride.

Big Daddy was just a giant kid. I think he built these things just for shits and giggles. There are at least a half dozen of these creations out there, maybe more. Ed gave 'em crazy names like the Fink Mobile, Conistoga Star, the Booger Buggy and Wagen Meister. Check 'em out!

Big Daddy Rat...

lived the dream. Even though Karl Smith passed on to that big bike show in the sky in 2002, the dream lives on with his son Ted promoting the shows. I've shown at the Rat's Hole Daytona show, and it brings the serious competition. I'm sure Karl's roaming Daytona right now, RIP brother, and thanks for a helluva good time!
